Obituary

Evelyn Dagnais Papienuk, 92, of Patterson NJ and formerly of 100 Belknap St., Laconia died June 21, 2004 in St. Joseph Hospital in Wayne NJ following an extended period of ill health. She was born in Bronx NY on March 17, 1912 the daughter of Frederick and Anna (Matthews) Glines.

She moved to Laconia at an early age and graduated from the Laconia Hospital School of Nursing in 1932. She entered a career as a Registered Nurse that spanned over fifty years.Evelyn was employed at Lakes Region General Hospital after her graduation and in the late 1950’s joined the staff of the Laconia State School & Training Center.

She relocated to Patterson NJ in 1966 and was on the nursing staff of St. Joseph Hospital in Patterson until her retirement in 1982.

She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Theodore Dagnais in 1963 and also by her second husband, Joseph Papienuk in December 1992.

Evelyn was always proud of her Irish heritage and her roots in County Cork, Ireland. While living in Laconia, she was a communicant of St. Joseph Church.

Family members include a son, John D’Agenais of Mansfield MA; four grandchildren, Matthew D’Agenais, Christine (Masiello) Brown, James T. D’ Agenais and Laurel D’Agenais; three great grandchildren; and a stepson, Joseph Papienuk of Patterson NJ.She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Pat Masiello in 1993.

Calling hours were in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. Friday from 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 30 Church St. Saturday at 9:30 AM. Rev. Gary J, Kosmowski, pastor was the celebrant. Burial followed in Bayside Cemetery. Timothy C. Molan and David L. Furber were the funeral directors.
