His family said he was a GREAT cook, especially his Blueberry pancakes with bacon & cheddar cheese, he made the the best burgers in town and great apple pie.
Being present, if he was there with you, he was THERE with you. He loved Crescent Ridge ice cream, he was dependable & loyal, enjoyed golf, especially at the family reunion, holding hands, telling jokes - sometimes appropriate and sometimes perhaps a bit inappropriate earning him a unofficial title of General Inappropriate, to his son-in-law's title of Captain Inappropriate... He was a Master Storyteller "I remember one day..." stories complete with every kids' last name and recalling days where there seem to have been no parents at all. He also enjoyed Oatmeal raisin cookies, old cars, Oldies music, especially Wooly Bully & Rockin' Robin.
He had many Papa-isms.
Definition of a Papa-ism: A very unrealistic, fake story or interesting fact, not to be admitted in which is false by Papa, that only turns into more lies, only believed to be true by Papa, himself.

Example:

Papa: “Did you know that the only way to visually tell if a Mosquito has Triple E. is if the mosquito has stripes on his legs.”

Room of People: “I-I-I I don’t exactly know if that’s true.”

Papa: “No-no it is.”

Room of People: “Where did you hear that papa?”

Papa: “Oh well that doesn’t matter, I think it was in the news or something.”

Room of People: “Okay Papa.”

A poem from his granddaughter

Popo “Papa-Ooooooohhh-Mow-Mow” Pancake Presto

Let’s always remember the good times
Never the bad
The fun and the laughter
The memories we’ve had
But one day you’ll leave
The memories will fade
But in my heart
I will forever remember the person you have made me
Laughing in good times
Mourning over bad
But it’s all with me
All the good times we’ve had
The bad memories lose
In the battle of my mind
With all the floating memories
And some are left behind
I won’t ever forget
The laughter or your smile
Even with you gone
Those will stay for a while
So just know now
That even when you aren’t with me
Even if I’m sad
I will always remember
The good memories we’ve had
