Violet E. (Wells) McManus, 92, formerly of Seabury Heights died Wednesday, December 5th at Autumn Village Nursing Home. She was born in Laconia, New Hampshire the daughter of Charles and Georgia (Hale) Wells. She has lived in Worcester most of her life. She was married to Charles McManus who passed away in 1952 at the age of 36. She is survived by her only child, a daughter, Patricia (McManus) Bessette of Worcester; two granddaughters, Tracy Mannila of Worcester and Susan Bessette of Boylston and five great grandchildren. Her first and only grandson, Steven Bessette passed away in 2002, at the age of 41.
She worked for 39 years for General Electric formerly Telechron. She was a lover of animals and donated to many shelters and charities. Violet was a former member of St. Bernard’s Church.
Her funeral is Tuesday, December 11th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, December 10th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606 or to a shelter of the donor's choice.
