Helen Scott, 94, of Norton formerly of Milton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the Golden Living Center Garden Place in Attleboro.
Born in Boston, MA on July 5, 1918, she was a loving daughter of the late Walter J., Sr. and Sarah (Kohler) Scott.
Helen grew up and was educated in the Roxbury and Dorchester sections of Boston. During WWII she worked in the offices at the Boston Army Base and prior to retiring had worked in the customer service department at the Acme Glass Co. in Quincy.
A resident of Norton for the past 2 ½ years, she was a former Milton resident for over 25 years. While living in Milton she was a longtime parishioner of St. Agatha’s Church in East Milton.
Helen had a special love for family and for many years served as a devoted caregiver to her mother. When younger, she enjoyed traveling with her family which included trips to Ireland, California, Bermuda and Las Vegas.
Helen’s hobbies included collecting frog memorabilia. She loved baking and will always be remembered for the joy she received making Christmas cookies.
She was pre-deceased by her eight siblings and is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 11th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 10th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
In lieu of flowers, Helen’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to St. Mary’s Church Building Fund, 1 Power St., Norton, MA 02766.
