Obituary


Virginia Steere (Bryant) “Ginny” Macomber, 89, of Ledyard, passed away Thursday morning at Fairview of Groton.

She was born in Central Falls, RI on December 24, 1922 the daughter of Earl V. and Mary L. Beattie Bryant. Ginny was employed as a front desk clerk for Howard Johnson’s in Mystic for many years before retiring in 1990.

She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxillary. She enjoyed making ceramics and loved her dogs.

Ginny is survived by her children, Howard Macomber Jr. of Ledyard, Bonnie Carner of Westerly, and John Macomber of Attleboro, MA, 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings, Charles Bryant, Allen Bryant, Marion Edwards, and Marjorie Colaneri.

Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Sunday from 4-6pm. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery, Rte. 27, Mystic on Monday at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Patient Recreation Fund, c/o Fairview, 235 Lestertown Road, Groton CT 06340.
