Obituary

Robert R. Blais, Sr., 84 years, of Salem, died peacefully at home, with his family on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 following a brief battle with cancer. He was the devoted husband of the late Alice F. (Marchand) Blais.

Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Anselme and Alvine (Guerrette) Blais. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served with the Army in Germany. Bob first worked for the former CBS Hytron of Salem, and later worked as an electronics technician for EG&G, Inc. of Salem. He retired from EG&G in 1991.

An avid sports fan, Bob was a member of the Old North Shore Baseball League and pitched for Bernard’s Jewelers in Salem. He also coached for Salem Little League. In addition to his passion for baseball, he loved bowling and fishing. He was a former member of the Palmer Cove Yacht Club and the VFW Peabody Post 1011.

Bob was extremely devoted to his family and was a very proud grandfather. His dry sense of humor will be missed by his extended family and many friends.

He is survived by a son, Robert R., Jr. and his husband Danny L. Blais-Carter of Croydon, NH, a daughter, Mary Ann Medros of Salem, a grandson, Keith B. Medros of Salem, a grand-daughter Denise and her husband James Clarke of Haverhill, and a great-grandson Adam. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Bruce Medros, a grandson, Gregg J. Medros, his brothers, Roland and Bertrand Blais and a sister, Lillian Chouinard.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 10 AM, to be followed by his funeral mass in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem at 11 AM. Visiting hours at the funeral home: Friday 4 to 8 PM. Burial, at a later date will be private.
