McCARTHY Dr. William L. of Hingham died on December 2, 2012. Age of 85. He leaves his beloved wife Janet (Doherty) McCarthy. Devoted father of his children Sara J. McCarthy and her husband Richard H. Taus of Weston, Carol A. McCarthy of Waban, David C. McCarthy and his wife Lori of Hingham, Paul F. McCarthy and his wife Alexis of Malvern, PA., and William S. McCarthy and his wife Melissa of Hingham. Beloved brother of the late Jack McCarthy. Also survived by 12 grandchildren.
Dr. McCarthy was born in Hartford, CT., and attended the Loomis Chaffee School, received his BA from Yale University and his MD at Boston University School of Medicine. He practiced Psychiatry at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton and Bournewood Hospital in Brookline. He was an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine. He served in the Navy Hospital Corps during World War II.
Funeral from the Pyne-Keohane Funeral Home 21 Emerald St. Hingham Friday at 9:30 am. Funeral Mass in St. Paul Church, Hingham at 10:30 am. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
