Obituary

SKABEIKIS, ALGIMANTAS “AL”, 81 passed away on Friday, November 30, 2012 at home after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Birute Skabeikis. He was born in Lithuania, lived in Randolph for many years & moved to Carver several years ago. He was the son of the late Jouzas & Jadvyga Skabeikis. Before retiring, he worked at BIW Cable Co. In his earlier years, he coached the Lithuanian basketball team. He was named to the South Boston Sports Hall of Fame. Al was on the board of directors of Taupa Lithuanian Credit Union. Al was also the past president & manager of the Lithuanian Citizens Association. He enjoyed watching sports, trips to Foxwoods, the Plymouth waterfront & spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Ellen Zemeitus & her husband Robert of Middleboro, Ausra Moller & her husband Rick of Seekonk, Ed Skabeikis & his wife Pamela of Carver & Lisa Skabeikis-Watson of Carver. Brother of John Skabeikis & his wife Adele of Rockland & the late Joseph Skabeikis. Al was Papa to 6 grandchildren, Christina Munro Abair, Robert Zemeitus Jr., Alycia Munro McCarthy, Ryan Skabeikis-Watson, Roger Michael Duphilly & Leah Daley. Great grandpa of 4, Nathan McCarthy, Layne & Jeremy Abair & Jesse Joseph Zemeitus. Visiting hours will be held at The Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester St., SOUTH BOSTON on Friday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday at 10 AM in St. Peter’s Lithuanian Church. Interment services are private.
