Obituary

Long time resident of Marshfield, MA, Richard A. Martinez died peacefully at Jordan Hospital on November 30, 2012. Son of the late John J. Martinez and Marion McDermod. He was born in Malden, MA and spent every summer in Brant Rock, MA until he married. He attended Malden Catholic High School and then got his B.S. Degree in History from the University of MA after serving a stint in the U.S. Army. He later received his Masters Degree with many credits toward his Doctorate. He taught history in Marshfield for thirty-eight years and married glorious Rosemary Reardon, a fellow teacher. He is survived by their four children. Son, Dr. John Bartley and his wife Barbara, and their five children, Rebecca, Carolyn, her husband Scott and son Sean, as well as Elizabeth, Hannah, and John. Son, Michael Morgan. Son, Richard Curran and his wife Patryce, as well as darling daughter Alexandra Graham, and three children, Emily, Joshua, and Timothy and their father Steven. He is also survived by his dear sister Alice Yanulis of Hooksett, NH. He is predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Jack. Richard was president of the Marshfield Historic Winslow House for many years as well as a trustee of the Ventress Memorial Library. Richard and Rosemary traveled extensively throughout Europe and were married fifty-eight years.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, December 7, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at MacDonald’s Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street, Marshfield, MA. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 8, at St. Christine’s Church at 11:00 am, located at 1295 Main Street, Marshfield, MA. There will be a reception immediately following the mass in the church hall.
