Wayland: Ruth Tischendorf Paddock of Wayland, MA, passed away at Sunrise of Wayland on November 28, 2012. She was 97.
Ruth was born April 27, 1915 in Boston, MA and lived most of her childhood in Brookline, MA. She attended Radcliffe College and graduated with a degree in Biology in 1936. After graduation Ruth worked at the Lahey Clinic, and then at the Harvard Medical School assisting Dr. Lennox, a specialist in epilepsy. She later worked in the Department of Psychiatry and Neurology for Harvard Medical School at Boston City Hospital.
Ruth married Erwin Breck Paddock of Melrose, MA in 1940. They lived in Wellesley, MA, where they raised their 3 children: David Breck, Jane Elizabeth (Dixon) and Deborah Ann Paddock. In 1961 they moved to Cape Elizabeth Maine for two years and in 1963 to Wayland, MA where Ruth has lived ever since.
In 1965 Ruth received a Masters of Education from Northeastern University and taught at the Framingham Barbieri and Woodrow Wilson Elementary Schools as a Reading specialist for ten years. After retiring she volunteered as an art docent at the Wellesley College Jewett Art Museum for over twenty years. Ruth loved to teach and share her passion for art, she loved to travel with her husband and spend her summers on Bustins Island in Casco Bay, Maine. Ruth was also an active member at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Wayland.
Ruth is survived by her three children, David Paddock and his wife Lynda of Milford, MA, Jane Dixon and her husband Paulof Tesuque, NM, and Deborah Paddock and her husband Jay Boggis of Hopkinton, MA, five grandchildren: Keesha Mandella Viveros, Joy and Sage Dixon; Kristin Paddock Perry, Jesse Sara Ruth Boggis, a step granddaughter Christie Julian and four great grandchildren plus many extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on January 5, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 169 Rice Road, Wayland, MA 01778.
