Joan L. (Anderson) McCrary, 91 of Anderson went to be with her Lord on November 30, 2012 following a two year illness. She was surrounded by her family at her residence.
Joan was born October 9, 1921 in Colchester, England to Robert and Frances (Jolly) Anderson. She was a member of and Sunday School teacher at Cross Roads United Methodist Church. She volunteered at the Christian Center where she managed the store, was a Pink Lady at Community Hospital; volunteer at Contact Help and Paramount Theatre.
She was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was an avid square dancer. She loved traveling with her husband in their motor home and wintering in Florida.
She is survived by her husband, Sherman A. McCrary of Anderson whom she married on March 23, 1947 in Brownstown, IN; her 5 children Linda (Harry) McVey of Pendleton; David (Bea) McCrary of Panama City, FL; Janice (Dewey) Bailey of Westminster, CO; Susan (Jim) Thomas of Lawrence, KS; Paul (Barbara) McCrary of New Palestine; her sister, Dorothy Hischebett of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Bob Anderson.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Cross Roads United Methodist Church with Revs. John Hackney and Gene Smith officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00P.M. on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service and 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to Cross Roads United Methodist Church or The Christian Center.
