Mr. Edward Lamar Dickerson
Augusta, GA – Mr. Edward Lamar Dickerson, 71, loving husband of the late Nancy Dickerson, entered into rest on November 27, 2012.
Mr. Dickerson is survived by his stepson, Rick Hawkins; granddaughter Katelyn DuBose; one brother Mike Dickerson (Jeanne); one niece, Angie Dickerson; two sisters in law, Linda Taylor, Sue Smith (Harry); brother in law, Tom Casaday (Quata); and friends, Joe and Betty Nixon.
The son of H.L. and Dot Dickerson, Edward was a devoted husband, stepfather, brother, grandfather and friend. In 1966 he went to work for the City of Augusta in Data Processing assisting in computerizing the Tax Assessors Office. He then was an Office Manager for the Tax Assessors. Mr. Dickerson was an Assistant Chief Appraiser for the Personal Property Division . He then left the Tax Office and went into private business as a land planner with Ayer, Barker, Graham Surveyors. He was a founding partner in Southern Partners Engineering & Surveying Company. Mr. Dickerson was a member of the Georgia Association of Assessing Officers [GAAO], a Member of the International Association of Assessing Officers [IAAO]. He served on the Augusta-Richmond County Planning Commission, and was a founding member of the Coalition for Quality Government.
In keeping with Ed’s wishes, a small private service was held on Friday, November 30, 2012.
