
Peabody, James Herbert, of Weirs Beach, NH and New Smyrna Beach, FL, passed away November 30, 2012 at the West Roxbury Mass. VA Hospital. Jim was born April 8, 1934 in Wilkinsburg, PA; moved to Haverhill, MA in his early teens; excelled in basketball throughout high school, joined the United States Coast Guard; served in the North Atlantic during the Korean conflict and was in charge of Deer Island light house in Boston Harbor until his honorable discharge. He owned and operated 2 vacuum cleaner sales and service stores in Lawrence MA area which he entrusted to his 2 sons allowing him time to get involved in a summer business with his wife Lou. After 20 summers in the New Hampshire hospitality industry, they retired to New Smyrna Beach, FL where he spent most waking hours on Hidden Lakes Golf Course with golf buddies he dearly loved.
He is survived by his wife Lou, a daughter Lexi Hamilton (Jeff), three sons: James D and David M. Peabody and Ty Sullivan (Susan), 5 grandsons: Jeffrey (Amy) and John Peabody, Austin, Jesse and Wyatt Hamilton, and Cameron Sullivan. A granddaughter, Aurora Rose Sullivan, 2 great granddaughters; Lydia Jean and Natalie Christine Peabody. A memorial service with Military honors for Jim will be held June 2013 at the Mass. National Military Cemetery. Donations in Jim’s memory will be gratefully appreciated by Fisher House Boston, a residence welcoming families of hospitalized veterans, at P.O.
