BLOOMFIELD, CT: Virginia E. “Ginny” (Stevens) Megson, 94, formerly of Wayland, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT following a period of declining health.
She was born in Waltham on February 1, 1918 the daughter of the late John F. Stevens and Ada M. (Doane) Stevens.
Ginny was the beloved and devoted wife for 68 years of the late Robert F. “Bob” Megson who died in 2010. She was the loving mother of Cheri L. Harrington and her partner Mark Jardin of Vineyard Haven. She is also survived by her cherished granddaughter Alicia J. Van Neil and her husband Glenn Van Neil and their children William Van Neil and Caitlin Van Neil all of East Granby, CT.
Ginny has been a resident of Bloomfield, CT for the past year and previously resided in Wayland for over 68 years. She enjoyed gardening, singing with the Golden Tones, of which she was an original member and was an active member of the Community United Methodist Church and the Community United Methodist Women. Ginny and her husband Bob were active members of the Wayland Senior Center and enjoyed traveling both in the United States and Europe. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her great-grandchildren.
Her family will receive friends on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 10:00 to 10:45 am at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Rd (Off Rte 30), Wayland. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 am.
Interment will be in the Megson family lot in Mt. Feake Cemetery in Waltham following the service.
