Obituary

CHATHAM: Gloria (Gould) Bernard, formerly of Wellesley Hills and Wayland, died peacefully on November 22, 2012 at the home of her daughter Elizabeth.
She was a Columnist, Home and Garden Editor for 22 years at the Boston Herald with a rotogravure feature of home interiors throughout New England. She was active in the New England Women’s Press Club, serving as the Awards Chairman and instrumental in establishing The Marjorie Mills Award. She was the founding member of the New England Fashions League and recipient of two of its annual awards, as well as a writer’s award. Gloria retired in 1965, she later returned to newspaper work at the Wellesley Townsman, becoming its managing editor.
Herbert F. Bernard, her husband of 58 years, passed away in 2009. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth B. Love and her husband Andrew of Wayland and David G. Bernard and his wife Tonya of Southborough. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Andrew Love, Jr., Christine Bernard and David Bernard, Jr.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, November 29, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Route 30), Wayland.
Her funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM followed by interment at Walnut Hills Cemetery, 96 Grove St, Brookline.
