MURRAY, Joseph E., M.D. of Wellesley and Chappaquiddick/Edgartown, November 26, 2012. Born in Milford, MA, Dr. Murray is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, 1940 and Harvard Medical School, 1943B. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine or Physiology in 1990 for his pioneering work in organ transplantation. Retired Chief of Plastic Surgery, Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital, Boston. Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School (Emeritus).
Beloved husband of Virginia “Bobby” (Link) Murray for 67 years. Devoted father of Ginny Murray of Plymouth, Margaret J. Murray and her husband Donald Dupont of Lafayette, CA, J. Link Murray and his wife Karin of Jamestown, RI, Dr. Katherine Murray Leisure of Plymouth, Thomas G. Murray and his wife Melissa of Dallas, TX and Richard W. Murray and his wife Dr. Sara Nuciforo of Scituate. Also survived by 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
