Obituary

Coggins, Patricia Marie (Meehan) Coggins, by the grace of our Lord, passed away peacefully November 9, 2012 in the loving company of family.

Preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, James Joseph ("Pa") and Johanna Agnes ("Ma") Hurney, her sister Marjorie (Meehan) O'Reilly, and former husband John Michael Coggins. She is survived by her son Mike Coggins and daughter-in-law Diana, and her daughter Karen (Coggins) Montagne and son-in-law Joseph, and her grandchildren Abby, Kate, Lily, Sean, Caroline, and Colin.

Pat was retired and living in Northern Virginia for twelve years, spending her days providing loving care for her grandsons, and enjoying frequent visits with extended family from all over. Prior to that, her "tour of duty" in retirement took her to Chicago, helping care for her loving grandaughters, among whom "Macca" was infamous for "spreading the mustard all the way to the edge of the bread." She spent decades cheering on her children and grandchildren on the sidelines of countless little league/soccer/softball/football games in West Carrollton, UD, OSU, Chicago, Reston and Robbinsville.

Born and raised in Dorchester, MA, Pat enjoyed summers on Lake Monponsett with her family in Halifax, MA. She began working at age 14 at Filene's in Boston, and after high school, attended Boston Teacher's College. She began a career in international travel, working for Air Canada airlines in Boston (where she met her husband, Mike), Mexico Travel Advisors (Seattle), and Civil Air Transport (Tokyo, Japan). She lived and travelled the world over as the young wife of an Air Force officer for many years.
Pat became the Conference and Travel Coordinator for the Charles F. Kettering Foundation in Dayton, OH. She organized countless international meetings and events attended by presidents, generals, and dignitaries of all types - all of whom came to acknowledge her warmth, grace and professionalism. Pat continues to enjoy the respect and admiration of friends and colleagues amassed over her many years of a life well-lived. Pat is deeply missed by all who knew her!

Funeral proceedings will take place Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 1pm at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 1725 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester Ctr, MA 02124
