MONGEON - Mark Edward Mongeon, 59, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012. He was a native of Monroe, Michigan and moved to Jacksonville, Florida 31 years ago.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Monroe, MI where he served as an alter boy in his youth.
Mark was a was a third degree Black Belt under the United House of Karate and a proud member of the North Florida Martial Arts Association for over 20 years. He loved his family, enjoyed family gatherings and cherished spending time with his 10 grandchildren. He also loved camping, fishing, going to the beach and was an avid tennis player. He was a fan of University of Michigan football and any sports from his home state of Michigan. He had a multitude of friends every where he worked or lived and was faithful to stay in touch and help when needed. He was a man of strong faith and it was evident in the way he lived his life.
Mark was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Nicholas Mongeon, who passed away in 2012; his mother, Mary Barbara Castellese Mongeon, who passed away in 1998; and by his father Edward F. Mongeon, who passed away in 1987.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Dawn Mongeon, of Jacksonville, FL; his children, Dustin Free of Jacksonville, FL, Sheree Brown of Yulee, FL, Joe Anderson (Britney) of Jacksonville, FL, Jason Anderson (Heidi), of Jacksonville, and Joseph Mongeon, also of Jacksonville; two daughters, Meredith Walker (Chad) of MacClenny, FL and Meesha Tatar (Kevin) of Sylvania, OH; two brothers, Kevin Francis Mongeon of Jacksonville, FL and Edward Charles Mongeon of Monroe, MI; two sisters, Nanette Labardee (Dave) of Waterville, OH and Melissa Levesque (Matt) of Monroe, MI; and grandchildren: Ty, Rylee and Anslee Walker, Gabby and Dallas Anderson, Alex and Paisley Tatar, Joseph Mongeon, Haley and Makenzie Brown.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 1st in the chapel of Green Pine Funeral Home, 96281 Green Pine Rd., Yulee, FL 32097. Services for family and friends in Monroe, Mi will also be held. Viewing at the Bacarello Funeral Home, Monroe, MI , Dec 3rd from 4 to 8 PM and Mass at St Mary's Catholic Church, Monroe, MI on Dec 4th , 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St Joseph's Cemetery.
