GLOUCESTER - Brian Keith Carignan, 48, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers following a courageous battle with liver disease.
Born on January 5, 1964, he was the son of Marlene L. Frost and the late Robert A. Carignan. A graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1982, Brian was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He had an incredible love for music, especially the blues. He played the harmonica on many occasions with the Bad News Blues, and this talent brought about happiness to all who listened. He also had the pleasure of meeting Stevie Ray Vaughn and BB King and loved to go to concerts with many of his friends. Brian also had a great love for animals and at one time owned B. C. Reptiles in Gloucester. He also worked at various manufacturing companies in Gloucester including Kona, Cyrk, and Varian.
Brian had an impressive boxing collection including memorabilia of his favorite boxers, Muhammad Ali, and Manny Pacquiao, and often traveled the country to watch a boxing match, many times treating friends to see a fight. Brian also loved fishing, antiquing, flea markets, and collecting sports cards and coins.
Brian had a vibrant spirit and great sense of humor. He had the ability to make others feel welcome and comfortable in his presence. He was taken from us to soon and he will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his sisters, Michele Gaynor, Pamela Amaral and Suzanne Kirvan, wife of Paul Kirvan; a brother, Matthew Carignan, Sr., husband of Pamela; nephews, Brian Levie, Leroy Gaynor, III, Mitchell Gaynor, Matthew Carignan, Jr., Matthew Carignan, III and Elias Carignan and a niece, Tessah Stanton. He was also predeceased by his fiancée, Diane Toye; stepfather, James Frost and brothers-in-law, Leroy Gaynor and Stephen Amaral.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Tuesday November 27, at the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Following the service, visiting hours will be held until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Hospice of the North Shore and Great Boston, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
