Mrs. Ollie Mae Roberts Cook, 87, of Ocilla died Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, November 24, at Satilla Baptist Church, Irwin County, with the Rev. Dan Johnson and the Rev. William Pope officiating. Interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Cook was born November 13, 1925, in Douglas, Georgia, to the late John William “Buster” and Floy Sears Roberts. She had lived most of her life in Irwin County. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse, having worked in hospitals in Waycross and Douglas. She attended Nursing School in Douglas and was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of the Ocilla United Methodist Church and the Home Demonstration Club and had attended church with her family at Satilla Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children: Martha C. Darnell of Clayton, Georgia, and George D. (Marilyn) Cook, III and William (Becky) Cook, all of Ocilla; seven grandchildren: Jay Beck, David & Regina Cook, Rebecca Harrison, Dennis & Kelly Cook, Dixie Cook, Jake Cook, and Jessica Cook; seven great-grandchildren; sisters: Elizabeth Ainsworth of Smyrna, Glenda Faye Austin of Austell, Sue Haynes of Cleveland and Barbara Eidam of Marietta; one brother: Charles Roberts of Douglas as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: George David Cook, Jr. and one sister.
