James E. Harden, Jr., 78, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Tift Regional Medical Center, Tifton, Georgia.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M., Sunday, June 20, 2004, at Central United Methodist Church, with Rev. Steve Waldorf officiating.
Mr. Harden was born December 31, 1925, in Fitzgerald, Georgia to the late James E. Harden, Sr., and Dimple Roberts Harden. He moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1972, where he lived until 1993, before moving back to Fitzgerald. Mr. Harden retired as a Vice-President of the United Transportation Union in the Jacksonville office and was a former Conductor with the railroad. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Harden was a member of Central United Methodist Church and a Sunday school teacher.
Mr. Harden is survived by his wife: Mary S. Harden, Fitzgerald; two sons: James E. Harden, III, Fitzgerald and Roy S. Harden, Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren and one great grandson; one brother, Bobby Harden, Rochelle and one sister: Betty Sue Uzzell, Hubert, NC. Mr. Harden was preceded in death by one brother, Maurice Harden.
