TEWKSBURY - Mary G. (Farinella) Champa, age 94, a resident of Tewksbury for the past decade, died peacefully, Sunday, November 18, at the Blaire House of Tewksbury. She was the beloved wife of John Champa, who died in 1981.
She was born in Boston’s North End, April 3, 1918, a daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (DiGangi) Farinella, and was raised there. She lived her adult life in Stoneham and Medford, before moving to Tewksbury in 1994.
As a Stoneham resident, she was active in the Order of the Sons of Italy, Stoneham Lodge, where she was a Past President.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Vincent and Linda Champa of Dracut; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Paul Alabiso of Tewksbury, with whom she had resided; four grandchildren, John and Janelle Alabiso, and James and Robert Champa; six great grandchildren, Kaylee, Jake, Brittney, Steven, John Paul, and Joseph; and three nieces.
Visiting hours Tuesday, November 20, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Her funeral will begin Wednesday, November 21, at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St. (Rte. 38) Tewksbury. Burial will follow at Forest Glade cemetery in Wakefield.
