Gilbert “Duke” Mello, age 92 of Somerset, previously of Fall River, passed away on November 16, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Eva (Souza) Mello and the son of the late Jean and Olive (Martins) Mello. He was also the loving father of Patricia Ann Mello of Somerset.
Prior to retiring in 1985, Gilbert worked for School House Candy Co. of Pawtucket, RI for 34 years, and previously worked for Ann Dale Mfg. and Har-Lee Mfg. He was a 1937 graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, a US Army veteran of WW II, serving in the 5th Engineer Special Brigade, a member of the Royal Travelers of Swansea, and a parishioner of St. Michael Church.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River on TUESDAY at 9:00A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours MONDAY 3-6 P.M.
