William E. Snell, 84, of Fairhaven, died November 15, 2012 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Cecile (Cormier) Snell.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Richard) Snell, he lived in Fairhaven for most of his life.
Mr. Snell was formerly employed as a corrections officer at MCI Bridgewater until his retirement.
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was a former member of the Fairhaven Shellfish Board. He was an avid shellfisherman and gardener. He loved spending time by the ocean.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, David Snell and companion Val of Acushnet, Daniel Snell and wife Patricia, Daryl Snell and wife Rhonda, Dana Snell and companion Tracy, and William Snell, Jr., all of Fairhaven; four grandchildren, Jennifer Lomba, Daniel Snell, Jr., Christopher Snell, and Tyler Snell; and two great-grandchildren, Delyla and Maddox.
He was predecesed by his siblings, Elton, Beulah, and Evelyn.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 10 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Westport.
