GEORGETOWN: Maureen Mullane Cleary, 71, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012. She was the beloved wife of Dr. James M. Cleary.
Maureen was born on March 7, 1941 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She was the daughter of the late John W. and Doris (Hanrahan) Mullane. She was a graduate of Mount Saint Vincent University where she was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Secretarial Studies (Cum Laude) and a Bachelor of Education, as well as the Kappa Gamma Pi key, a symbol of election to the National Catholic College Graduate Honor Society. She worked for many years as an executive assistant at Addison-Wesley Publishing. A published poet, painter, figure skater and world traveler, among other things, she will be lovingly remembered by many friends and relatives.
Maureen was the loving mother of two daughters, Siobhan P. and her husband Ivan Murphy of Nova Scotia and Meg T. and her husband Timothy Lewis of New Hampshire; two grandchildren, Aelyn and Nolan Murphy; six siblings, T. William Mullane of New Brunswick, Shirley Brennan of Nova Scotia, John F. Mullane of British Columbia, Nora Scicluna of Australia, Kathleen Mullane of Nova Scotia, and Judith Kiley of Nova Scotia.
A private ceremony for relatives will be held in Nova Scotia at a later date. In lieu of flowers, expression of sympathy may be made in Maureen’s memory to the charity of one’s choice or to the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society, 63 Elm Street, Salisbury, MA 01952.
