Obituary

Herbert Melvin Sparks, Jr., 69, of Rebecca, GA died Sunday morning, November 11, 2012, at his residence, after a courageous but brief battle with cancer.
He was born September 23, 1943, to the late Herbert Melvin, Sr. and Edna Bernice (Wright) Sparks. He was raised in Cambridge, MA. Herb was a Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War, while stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
Upon his return, Herb worked as a Police Officer in Waltham, MA. He later moved his family to Merrimack, NH where he resided for 30 years, during which he was employed at Nashua Corporation.
After retirement, Herb enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, before moving to Rebecca, GA., where he enjoyed the outdoors on his porch while watching the sunset. He will long be remembered for his great sense of humor.
Herb is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorothy “Dot” Sparks, 3 daughters: Kim Sparks & Roland Jacques of Bedford NH, Lisa & Timothy Shutt of Brookline NH, and Cheryl Sparks & Timothy O’Meara of Candia NH, a son Keith Sparks of Manchester NH, an adopted grandson Bryan Sparks, as well as his other grandkids. Also surviving are his 2 sisters: Virginia Cruz of Cape Coral, FL and Terry & Rick Bilotta of Auburn, NH, a brother: John & Lisa Sparks of Nashua, NH, as well as many nephews and a niece. He was predeceased by a son, Timothy Sparks.
Visiting hours were Saturday November 17, 2012 from 9 to 11:30 am at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road, Londonderry. A graveside service follow immediately after at Glenwood Cemetery, Mammoth Road, Londonderry.
