Mary Lou Spires, 52, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died November 13, 2012, in Brantley County.
Funeral services will be held at 4 P.M. Friday, November 16, 2012, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Ronald Parks officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7-9 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Spires was born January 19, 1960 to the late James Mitchell and Velma Lee Moody Mitchell. She was a former employee of Lake Garfield Citrus Packing of Florida, Lowell Packing Company of Lake Wales, Florida and D & F Grain of Ocilla. She was a member of Colony City Opry and was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her mother: Velma M. Mitchell of Fitzgerald; daughters: Jennifer & Jimbo Ellis of Fitzgerald, Dinah Watson of Fitzgerald; son: Larry Spires of Fitzgerald; sisters: Brenda & Ray Reaves of Brantley County, Lynn & Ricky Cotton of Brantley County, Pat Mitchell of Fitzgerald and Gail Findley of Alabama; brother: James Mitchell of Fitzgerald; two grandchildren: Ryan & Haydon Stringer of Fitzgerald and several step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special friend: Dan Wilson of Brantley County and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her father she was preceded in death by her husband: Jackson Wayne Spires; son: Robert Lee Barber and daughter: Mary Ann Barber.
