Janet Ann (Jackson) Shafer
April 22, 1942- November 11, 2012
Janet Ann (Jackson) Shafer, 70, of Chesterfield, IN, was surrounded by her family and friends when she went home to be with the Lord on November 11, 2012 after a brief illness.
Janet was born April 22, 1942 in Anderson, IN. She was a 1960 graduate of Madison Heights High School and a graduate of Anderson Business College. She was an active member of North Anderson Wesleyan Church. She was a Wesleyan Missionary to the Native Americans at Brainard Indian School, Hot Springs, SD from 1979-1986. Janet also taught in LaPuenta, CA.
Janet was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jon R. Shafer; son, David (wife, Marsann) Shafer; daughter, Mary Shafer; an aunt, Betty (husband, Jim) Zerhung; a brother, Richard (wife, Leah) Jackson; and 3 sisters, Bonnie (husband, John) Moser, Kathleen (husband, Mike) Yauney; Mary Lou (husband, Michael) Konkle; grandchildren, Andrew Shafer and Emily Shafer, and several nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her father and mother, Harold and Bessie (Shank) Jackson.
The family would like to thank the nursing and medical staff on 6 South and in the ICU at St. John's Hospital. A special thanks to ICU nurse, Donna, for her honesty and compassion.
The funeral service will be at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at North Anderson Wesleyan Church, 1947 E. 240 North, Anderson, IN (corner of Rangeline and Bethany Roads.) with Revs. Michael Konkle and Eddie Purciful. The burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
The visitation will be on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 9:00am until 11:00am at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to North Anderson Wesleyan Church.
