Florence K. Byron, LPN, 79, formerly of Chepachet, died Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the South Kingstown Nursing Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Preston L. Byron.
Born in Cranston, a daughter of the late Harold H. and Catherine I. (Brown) Ross, she lived in Chepachet for many years moving to North Kingstown 5 years ago.
Mrs. Byron was a nurse at Kent County Hospital until retiring. She was active in North Kingstown Senior Center and loved crafts, sewing, knitting planting, bingo, as well as outings and coffee clutches with the girls of 17 Fischer Drive.
She is survived by her children, Suzanne Wilcox of North Kingstown, Barbara Laplante of Glocester and Laura McDonald of Feeding Hills, MA,
stepchildren, Veronica Babcock of Glocester, Teresa Hartman of Waynesboro, PA, Sue Fisher of Holt, FL and Patricia Chatterly of West Warwick; siblings, Haven Ross of Birch Harbor, ME, Shirley Depouw of Kalamazoo, MI and Harold Ross of Cranston,thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchidren.
Visitation Wednesday 4-8pm in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial is private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to F.I.S. H., 165 Buena Vista Drive, North Kinston, RI 02852. F.I.S.H is an organization of volunteers who provide transportation for seniors.
