Obituary

SOLOMON - James Major Solomon, Sr., 82, passed away Wednesday morning, November 7, 2012. Mr. Solomon was born June 1, 1930 in Broxton, GA and moved to Hilliard, FL four years ago from Callahan.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #2352. He was a Korean era veteran serving with the U. S. Navy. Mr. Solomon was also employed by Civil Service and was a merchant seaman. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. He will be remembered as a kind, good spirited man.
Survivors include a son, James M. "Jimmy" Solomon, Jr. (Maureen) of Lake City, FL; a daughter, Belinda Winkleman (Bobby) of Callahan, FL; a stepdaughter, Debra Hill, of Lake City, FL; two brothers, Robert W. Solomon (June) of Jacksonville, FL and Darrell Nobles, also of Jacksonville; one sister, Willeen Holder of Jacksonville, FL; a granddaughter, Amanda; two great grandchildren; and his dog, Dixie. He was preceded in death his two other pet dogs, Patches and Troubles.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 9, at Green Pine Cemetery with Rev. Doug Sides officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at Green Pine Funeral Home.
