LaVerne Helen (Hammon) Smiddy, 97, passed away November 5, 2012 at Hosparus Inpatient Unit. She a member of Chapel Hill United Church of Christ, Bright Star Chapter # 16 of the Eastern Star, Order of the Amaranth, Louisville White Shrine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oran Smiddy; sisters, Mary Lee Hollinsead, Marcella Rose Horn and Dorothy Mae Huff. Survived by her daughter, Elaine K. Giles (David); son, Raymond H. Smiddy, brother, Walter E. Hammon, 2 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren. Funeral service is Saturday, 11 A.M. at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with burial Louisville Memorial Garden, West. Visitation is Friday 2 P.M. until 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
