Worcester- Beatrice A. (Desmarais) Proal, 80, formerly of 335 Granite St., died Friday, June 11, in Holden Nursing Home.
Her husband of 52 years, Russell F. Proal, died in 1997. She leaves a son, Russell S. Proal of Worcester; two daughters, Hazel B. Hasseltine of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Judith M. Lucas of Westborough; three brothers, Henry R. Desmarais of Leicester, Louis R. Desmarais of Millbury, and Richard W. Desmarais of Worcester; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A brother, Leo O. Desmarais, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Henry J. and Beatrice E. (Berthiaume) Desmarais, and lived here all her life.
Mrs. Proal was a title clerk at State Mutual Life Assurance Co. for many years, retiring in 1985.
She was a member of St. Catherine of Sweden Parish.She enjoyed golfing and traveling.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, June 16, from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Catherine of Sweden Parish, 1 Wiser Ave. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, in the funeral home.
