Obituary

SPENCER: Glenwood E. Densten, Jr. 89, of 182 Charlton Rd., died Tuesday, Nov. 6 at UMASS Memorial-119 Belmont St. in Worcester surrounded by his family . He will be missed.

He was the husband of Barbara M. (Sargent) Densten who died in 2002. They had been married 58 years. He leaves his son, Glenwood E. “Butch” Densten, III and his wife Doris of Allenstown, NH. his daughter Denise D. Lacroix and her husband William of Spencer with whom he lived ,five grand children Nanette Desrochers and her husband John of NH, Glenwood E. Densten IV of CT , Kimberly Carter of CT, Daniel J. Lacroix and his wife Breanna of MA and John Gillespie and his wife Diane of MA and eight great grand children Kristen Desrochers, Kelsey and Royal Carter, Daniel, Lucas and Brynn Lacroix and Colleen and Ryan Gillespie He was predeceased by his grandson William C Lacroix who died in 1982. He also leaves his beloved toy poodle “Jack” who he adopted from NE Poodle Rescue.



Mr. Densten was a metallurgist at Wyman Gordon Co. in Millbury, where he worked for 25 years, retiring in 1986.

Born in Hoboken, NJ, he was the son of Everett and Effie L. (Harlan) Densten. He later proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea. In WW 2 his ship took part in the invasion of Iwo Jima and the 38th parallel Korea. His ship and crew were awarded three battle stars. He was a member of the Gaudette-Kirk Post 138 American Legion in Spencer. He was a professional photographer and an accomplished wood worker ,family members still proudly use furniture and cabinets that he made. He also loved building miniature houses and their furniture.

May her warm waters comfort you, her loving earth receive you and her eternal fires create for you a joyous life anew”. “Now Voyager depart, much, much more for thee is yet in Store. Depart upon they endless cruise old Sailor”.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at UMASS Memorial for their kind and compassionate care extended to Glenn and his family.



Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 9 at 10:30a.m. in the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Spencer with Military Honors.

Calling hours will precede the funeral on Friday from 9 to 10:30a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Central Mass. Chapter of Homeless Veterans, 69 Grove St., Worcester 01605 or Poodle Rescue of New England, P.O. Box 441447, Somerville, Ma. 02144.
