Mr. Eugene Sparks, 74 of Truro, died Sunday morning November 4, 2012, at his home following a long battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Gail Ann (Packett) Sparks. Born in Winston Salem, NC, on December 28, 1937, he was the son of the late Eugene Mims and Crissie (Marshall) Sparks. Mr. Sparks was a well known artist on Cape Cod. Among his works were the murals located behind the altar of the original St. Peter Church in Provincetown and at the chapel of St. Peter Cemetery Provincetown.
He served in the US Air Force from 1956 until 1960. It was while he was stationed at the Air Force Base in North Truro that he met and married Gail, to whom he was married for 52 years.
Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters Le Anne Sparks Pimental and her husband Gary of Brewster, Sheva Sparks Russell and her fiancé John Browne of North Truro, his son Olin G. Sparks of North Truro, his 5 grandchildren Nick Pimental and his wife Shirley of CA, Lacey Clark and her husband Kameron of North Eastham, Chelsea Pimental of Brewster, Kaitlyn Russell of No. Truro and Jasmine Avallone Osowski of Provincetown, and his great granddaughter Peyton Clark of North Eastham. He was the father of the late Mims E. Sparks who died in 2007. He is also survived by his brother Larry Sparks of Winston Salem, NC.
