GRANBY – Theresa Y. (Masse) Chapdelaine, 85, a longtime resident of the Aldenville section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Friday, November 2, 2012. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on January 8, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late Leo and Marguerite (Masse) Masse. She was raised in the Aldenville section of Chicopee and attended the former Precious Blood Elementary and High School in Holyoke. She later lived on Pipit Drive in Chicopee before moving to Granby in 2006. Theresa was employed for several years as a cook and worked in the cafeteria at Saint Joan of Arc Elementary School in Aldenville and later at the former Chicopee Municipal Home before retiring in 1982. Active in her faith, she was a lifelong communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville where she was a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality. She was also a longtime member of the Aldenville Senior Center. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Normand J. Chapdelaine who was Called Home on June 2, 2005. They were married at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville on February 8, 1947 and were blessed with over 58 years of happiness together. She leaves: her loving sons, Richard N. Chapdelaine and his wife, Beth, of Granby, Michael C. Chapdelaine and his wife, Roxann of Floral City, FL and Robert E. Chapdelaine and his wife, Lisa, of Ontario, Canada; her three loving grandchildren, Derek Chapdelaine, Jacquelene Chapdelaine and Danny Chapdelaine and his wife, Kim; her three cherished great grandchildren, Lillian, Gianna and Danika Chapdelaine; her dear brother, Robert Masse of Pinellas, FL; her dear sisters, Jenny McCool of Pinellas, FL, Claire Dube of Westminster, MA, Agnes Gore of Carrollton, TX and Constance Marisolo and her husband, Chris, of Wakefield, MA; her dear sister-in-law, Mary Masse of Wakefield, MA; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her dear brother, Laurent Masse. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, November 6, 2012 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at the convenience of her family. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 5, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to Saint Joan of Arc School Fund, 587 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
