Obituary

Marion Louise Paulson, 76
Dateline: Mansfield, MA
Marion Louise “Mimi” Paulson, 76, of Mansfield, formerly of Abington, died peacefully at the Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham on Saturday, November 3, 2012 after a long illness.
Born in Brockton on January 8, 1936, she was a daughter of the late B. Ragnar and Astrid V. (Anderson) Paulson. She is survived by her brothers, Richard G. Paulson and his wife, Janet Vigor of Mansfield and Donald R. Paulson and his wife, Ruth of Merrimack, New Hampshire, her sister, Jean M. Gile and her husband, William H. Gile of Sandwich, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late C. Robert Paulson and Phyllis Paulson Sternlight.
A former longtime resident of Abington, Marion grew up in Brockton and was formerly a member of the First Lutheran Church in Brockton. She graduated from Brockton High School in 1953. Following high school, she graduated from the Perry Normal School in Boston, after which she took a teaching position at the Gordon School in Providence, Rhode Island where she remained for two years. In 1959 she was employed at the Morgan Memorial Day Nursery in Boston. At that time she began working, part time, toward a Bachelor of Science Degree at Bridgewater State Teachers College. From 1964 to 1966 she was a counselor for emotionally disturbed children, ages 6-14 at the New England Home for Little Wanderers in Boston. In 1968 she received her degree from Bridgewater State and in the fall of that year, began teaching in the Abington school system, grades one and two, at the Center School, Woodsdale School and Early Child Hood Center. She retired in June of 1997, after teaching for 29 years. A resident of Mansfield for the past 3 years, she had formerly resided in Abington for 30 years.
Her greatest joy in life was nurturing her young students and she delighted in making their entry into grammar school a positive experience. She will be sadly missed by her siblings and their extended families, her old friends and all who knew her. She will be forever remembered for her love and kindness to each of them.
A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers and in her memory, please do an act of kindness for a child.
