Christina J. ‘Tina’ (Collings) Banville, age 86 of Peabody and a former resident of Swampscott, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, November 2, 2012 at the NSMC / Salem Hospital. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph A. Banville.
Born and raised in Montague, Prince Edward Island, she was the daughter of the late James and Emeline (Clair) Collings. Tina was a graduate of the Charlottetown Hospital School of Nursing in Prince Edward Island. She worked as Director of Admissions and Director of Nursing for the Lynn Union Hospital until her retirement in 1984. Tina was a member of the Massachusetts Nurses Association, as well as a member and Eucharistic Minister of St. John the Evangelist Church in Swampscott.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews including Sheila Donovan Risoldi and Tom Risoldi, as well as many caring friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, 178 Humphrey St., Swampscott on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 10:00 A.M., to be followed by her burial in Swampscott Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Discalced Carmelite Nuns, 15 Mount Carmel Rd., Danvers, MA 01923-3796.
