Obituary

Peter W. Delahanty 54, of Worcester, and formerly of Natick died unexpectedly Sunday, October 28, 2012 at his home.

Born in Newton he was the son of the late John P. and Lois A. (Hinman) Delahanty.

Mr. Delahanty worked for over 27 years as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Most recently at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, and previously at Boston Medical Center, The Deaconess Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital in Florida.

He was also Board Certified in Pediatric –Perinatal Therapy, and taught Respiratory Therapy classes at Quinsigamond Community College and Northern Essex Community College.

Mr. Delahanty was a Veteran of the United States Army serving active duty 1977 -1980 in the Military Police in Europe.

He enjoyed martial arts and was awarded a Red Belt in Tae Kwan –Do, was a member of K.R.A.N.E, Karate Referees Association of New England, was a U.S.A.H Certified Coach and Referee.

Mr. Delahanty also enjoyed Harleys, had a great love of animals and was devoted to his family. One of the greatest moments for Pete was going to Game 4 of the Boston Bruins Stanley Cup Championship with his brother.

He is survived by two brothers, Lawrence Delahanty of Sturbridge, Ryan Delahanty and his wife Laura of Holden, three nieces Shannon, Alanna, and Haley.

He was also the brother of the late Timothy Delahanty.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday November 3, at 9:00 A.M. from the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home 4 Park Street, at Natick Common, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Patrick’s Church at 10:00 A.M.

Private burial will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery at a later date.
