Thelma V. (Villani) Baker, 92, of Dartmouth died Thursday June 10, 2004 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Philip L. Baker.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Antonio Villani and Carmela (Yellenti) Villani Caruso Alvaro, she had lived in New Bedford before moving to Dartmouth.
She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Mrs. Baker was formerly employed at Continental Screw Company for 29 years until her retirement in 1980.
She was a member of the Italian-American Women's Club and the St. Francis Women's League. She enjoyed shopping at the Big Value Outlet, doing crossword puzzles and listening to and playing her guitar.
Survivors include her son, Philip V. Baker of Dartmouth; her brother, Rudolph Caruso, and his wife Palmina, of New Bedford; a nephew, Paul Caruso, and his wife Nancy, of Bristol, RI; and five nieces, Christine Kennedy, and her husband Bruce, of Melbourne, Fla., Elena Caruso, and Regina Jalbert, and her husband Rick, all of Dartmouth, Patricia Arruda, and her husband Steven, of Westport, and Andrea Caruso of New Bedford.
She was the sister of the late Adeline Loughran and Jessie Paoloni.
