Lucy K. DeVito, a life-long resident of Woburn passed away on October 28th at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 97. Born in Woburn she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catarina (Memoli) DeVito.
Lucy was a graduate of the Hanson School in 1929. Prior to her retirement she worked for many years as a technician with the Sylvania Co. which later became GTE. Lucy loved driving, and being the only woman in her family to have a driver’s license she became the personal chauffeur to her sisters. Together they traveled by car cross country several times. She also loved to load up the car with her nieces and nephews and travel to different beaches in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Rhode Island. Lucy was a very independent woman and when she wasn't traveling the highways she enjoyed sewing, reading and solving crossword puzzles.
In addition to her late parents, Lucy is predeceased by her sisters, Antoinette DeVito, Josephine Caroto, Mary Dorandi, and brothers, Nicholas and Thomas DeVito. She is survived by her great nephews, Michael Pandolph and his wife Kathleen of Woburn, Dennis Dorandi and his wife Mary Sue of Reading. She is also survived by her nieces Janet DeVito, Jean O'Connor and her husband Lawrence all of Woburn as well as many loving great great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday, November 2nd, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Thursday from 4 thru 7 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Lucy's memory to St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, MA 01801.
