CHICOPEE – Robert E. “Bob” Cusson, 67, a longtime resident of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was called safely home on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and his wonderful caregivers from Baystate Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Holyoke on April 8, 1945, a son of the late Rene and Jeannette (Charland) Cusson. He was raised in the Flats of Holyoke and was a graduate of Immaculate Conception Elementary School and Precious Blood High School. He also attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. He had lived in Holyoke until moving to the Fairview section of Chicopee in 1975. He was employed for 44 years in the Accounts Payable Department at Atlas Copco in Holyoke and retired in 2007. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Fairview. Robert was a quiet man who adored his family and showered them with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. He leaves his loving wife and best friend, Sally A. (Sulewski) Cusson. They were married on June 27, 1970 at the former Immaculate Conception Church in Holyoke and enjoyed over 42 years of happiness together. He also leaves: his beloved daughter, Renée L. Railsback, and her husband, Michael, of Broomfield, CO; his beloved son, Shawn E. Cusson, and his wife, Corinna, of Boston; his cherished grandsons, Lucas E. Cusson and Josef M. Railsback; his dear brother, George Cusson and his wife, Marge, of Roanoke, VA; and his many dear nephews, nieces and extended family members. His funeral will be held on Saturday morning, November 3, 2012, beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 2, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
