Patricia A. Costa 72, a lifelong Provincetown resident, died early Friday morning, October 26, 2012 at Cape Cod Hospital. She had suffered with diabetes for many years. She was the loving wife of the late Arthur J. Costa who died in 2006. Mrs. Costa was the daughter of the late John and Priscilla (Alexander) De Costa. She attended high School in New Britain, CT, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lewis A. Young VFW Post in Provincetown. Mrs. Costa spent her working career in the tourism industry in Provincetown. For many years she worked with her husband, managing their family business, Art’s Dune Tours. Her son Rob, who succeeded his father, said “she was an important part of the business being successful for the past 66 years.” She was a person who found immense joy in the opportunity of being kind and generous to others.
She is survived by her two sons, Shawn M. Costa and his wife Susan of Truro and Robert A. Costa of Provincetown, her grandson Christopher Costa, her sisters Catherine Oullette of Provincetown, Nadine Vietts of Denver, CO, and Priscilla Braddock of Wellfleet. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Peter the Apostle Church 11 Prince St. Provincetown on Friday November 2, 2012 at 12:30pm. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visiting hours.
Because her husband had been afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease, Patricia’s family is suggesting that one way to honor her is by making a contribution in her memory to Hope Dementia & Alzheimer’s Services
