Collette Cashman-Maher, 41, of Middletown, RI, formerly of Marshfield, MA passed away on October 25, 2012 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Collette was the beloved wife of Commander Charles Maher, USN, loving mother of Maeve Maher and step-mother to Felippe Maher. She is also survived by her parents Ray and Paula Cashman of Marshfield, MA, her sister Carolyn Jones and her husband Chuck of Attleboro, MA, her brother Thomas Cashman and his wife Katie of Marshfield, MA, her father and mother in-law John and Helen Maher of Bainbridge Island, WA, sister-in-law Brigid Maher and her husband Mike Rippin of Washington, DC., five nieces and nephews and many close friends.
Collette was a 1988 graduate of Marshfield High School and a 1992 graduate of Boston College where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in history with a minor in Irish Studies. She loved everything Irish and enjoyed genealogy research, in which she traced her ancestry back over five hundred years. She had a very adventurous spirit and traveled to many places all over the world. She particularly enjoyed leading groups of friends on heritage tours of Ireland and staying in her cottage near Galway.She and Charlie enjoyed the travel associated with various Navy assignments, living and making friends in Lanikai, HI (where Maeve was born), Bainbridge Island, WA, Mystic, CT and Middletown, RI. In the past year she traveled with the family to Ireland, Disney World, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas on a Disney Cruise.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday October 28, 2012 from 4-8PM at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Rte 139, Marshfield, MA.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday October 29, 2012 at 10AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal St., Green Harbor,MA.
Interment will follow at Couch Cemetery in Marshfield.
