Obituary

Loring C. Child, 94, of East Derry, NH, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004 in the Integrated Health Services in Derry. Mr. Child was born in Lexington, MA on September 22, 1909, a son of the late Edward L. and Harriett (Sherman) Child. He was a resident of East Derry for over 42 years. He attended Lexington, MA schools and graduated from the Rindge Technical High School in Cambridge, MA, Class of 1930. He served 10 years in Battery B., 211th Coast Anti-aircraft, First Corp. Cadets, Mass. National Guard in Boston, MA. He retired in 1968 after 28 years civil service as an aircraft mechanic with the US Air Force. He then worked for 7 years as a custodian for the Derry School District, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the East Derry Fire Dept. for several years and was also a seventy plus year member of the Maj. Gen. Henry Knox Masonic Lodge, AF & AM, Boston.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel F. (Berry) Child of East Derry, two sons, Richard L. Child of East Derry, Kenneth F. Child of Hillsboro, NH, four grandchildren, several great grandchildren.

There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 12th at 10:00am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. The burial will be in the Monroe Cemetery in Lexington, MA at a later date.
