Obituary

George Clayton Smith, Jr., 82, of Enigma died Thursday, October 25, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Ronnie Vice will officiate with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 3, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Smith was born on February 3, 1930 in Toccoa and was the son of George Clayton Smith, Sr. and Annie Simpson Smith, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary “Marcy” Weimer Smith; his first wife, Ruth Wilson Smith; a sister, Texie Smith Wiggins; three brothers, Miles Edward Smith, Walter Eugene “Gene” Smith and John Franklin Smith; and two half-sisters, Maggie Smith Moore and Emma Smith Williams. He was an equipment operator with Adcock Pecans and was a retired, 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force and served on active duty in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Tifton.

Mr. Smith is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Harry Smith of Zephyrhills, Florida and Delores and Ronnie Thomley of Lutz, Florida; one son, Curtis Smith of Tampa, Florida; two step-sons, Thomas “Tom” and Deborah Genard of Midway and Scott and Ginger Huff of Hollywood, Maryland; a step-daughter, Deborah Genard of Atlanta; one brother and sister-in-law, James Clifford and Sandy Smith Fruitland, Florida; one sister, G. Kaye Lucas of Enigma; a sister-in-law, Diane Smith; two grandsons, John Thomas and Jennifer Wells of Temple Terrace, Florida and Michael and Stephanie Wells of Madison, Alabama; two granddaughters, Derae and Bill Kaeberlein of Wesley Chapel, Florida and Holly Self; his grandchildren, Alysa, Heather and Skyler Huff, Caleb, Elizabeth and Daniel Genard; his great-grandchildren, Savannah, Madalyn and Katie Kaeberlein, John Michael Self and Armando and Cassidy Wells; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews throughout the United States.
