Obituary

Betty Murdock
3/28/1921 to 10/18/2012

Salt Lake City, Utah - Betty Murdock died peacefully at home on October 18th surrounded by her children. Our loving mother was born on March 28, 1921 in South Sioux City, Nebraska to Henry Alvin Wilson and Blanche Manzer Wilson. The youngest of nine children, she spent her early years living in Nebraska and remained there after graduating to teach typing and shorthand. In 1946, Betty moved to Indiana where she met and married Gerald Huffman in 1949, later divorced, then married Alfred Murdock. Our dear mother was devoted to caring for and sacrificing for her family. Her quiet faith in God helped her to endure many trials throughout her life.

Betty will be deeply missed not only for her humble nature, but also for her brilliant sense of humor and lively conversational wit that never ceased to amaze us. She loved to cook and did so until she no longer had the strength.

Betty loved her visits with her family and friends and her keen curiosity kept her an avid reader since she was a child. She was preceded in death by her 8 brothers and sisters, her husband Alfred, and her parents. She is survived by her children Mary Futrell (husband Ken) of Jacksonville, N.C., Jerry Huffman (wife Mary) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Betsy Jensen (Husband Bill) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Tina West (husband Mike) of Alexandria, Indiana, ten grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday October 24th at 1:00 PM at The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints, 200 West 46th Street. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday October 24th from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
