Estabania Mendoza, age 89, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday morning, October 19, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Dedham. She was the beloved wife of the late Juan Mendoza.
Born, raised and educated in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Sisto and Tomasa (Maisonet) Solis. Estabania married, started a family, and was employed as a seamstress for a clothing manufacturer. She also worked part time as a lunch lady at a local school.
Estabania immigrated to Boston in 1971, and made a home for her family in Roxbury. She dedicated her life to her growing extended family and most enjoyed cooking meals for all who visited her. She had moved to Framingham to be with her daughter two years ago.
She is survived by her devoted family; three daughters, Gloria Mendoza of Boston, Ruth Mendoza of Framingham, and Nydia Mendoza of Boston; two sons, Alex Figueroa Mendoza and Freddy Figueroa, both of Boston; 14 grandchildren, Millie Mendoza, Onix Mendoza, Wanda Jimenez, Glenda Jimenez, Ruth Jimenez, Alexis Ozuna, Kathy Mendoza, Christopher Figueroa, Joshua Figueroa, Quito Figueroa, Alex Figueroa, Jessica Figueroa, Carmen Figueroa, and Alexander Figueroa; and many great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, Natick, on Tuesday, October 23rd at 8:00p.m. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery on Wednesday at 1:00p.m.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday 5 – 7:45p.m.
