David P. Conlon, 84, of Franklin died on Friday, October 19, 2012 at his home surrounded by family. He was the husband of Shirley (Gillis) Conlon who died in 1983.
Born in Roslindale on June 1, 1928, he was a son of the late David N. and Mary E. (Hayes) Conlon.
Mr. Conlon was a Franklin resident since 1962. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War.
Mr. Conlon worked as a soil analysis engineer for Haley & Aldridge in Boston for 26 years. After retiring in 1985, he went to work for the Town of Franklin as an inspectional engineer until 1999.
Mr. Conlon was a member of the Franklin Elks Club and was a life member of the Amvets in Millis.
He is survived by his children, Michael Conlon and his wife Sheryl, Paul Conlon and his wife Janice, Diane Conlon, Pam McLeod and Kathleen McLeod, all of Franklin, four grandchildren, Shawn, Michael, Robert and Isabelle and his great-grandson Jacob.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Jack, Virginia, Thomas, Eleanor, Michael and Maureen and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Tuesday, October 23 at 9:15 a.m. from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 - 8 p.m.
