HALIFAX - Bonnie L. (Haynes) Barber, 61, of Halifax, formerly of West Bridgewater, died peacefully Monday at Boston University Medical Center surrounded by her family after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born June 1, 1943 in Woonsocket, R.I., she was the daughter of Hope (Couette) Haynes of Bridgewater and the late Leon Haynes.
She was a graduate of East Bridgewater High School, Class of 1961.
Mrs. Barber was an assistant head bank teller at Crescent Credit Union in Brockton for five years and was formerly a waitress at Christo’s in Brockton for over 30 years.
She enjoyed reading, crosswords, dancing, writing and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her children, Steven S. Barber and his wife Susan of East Taunton, Marc E. Barber of Ipswich and Heidi M. Boardman and her husband Stephen of Halifax; six grandchildren, Nicolette and Kyle Barber of Ipswich, Ryan and Daniel Barber of East Taunton and Jenna and Joseph Boardman of Halifax; a sister, Linda McGee; six brothers, Alan, Dennis, Carl, Gary, Greg and Kevin Haynes and many nieces and nephews. She was mother to the late James “Jay“ Barber and former wife of the late James P. Barber.
Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
