Obituary

WAYLAND: Edna (Wasem) Putnam, 95, died peacefully under the care and comfort of her daughter Maggie at her Wayland residence on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 following a period of declining health.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 9, 1917 the daughter of the late Jesse Wasem and Delilah (Lucas) Wasem.

Edna in survived by her loving and devoted daughter Marguerite “Maggie” Putnam-Landers of Wayland, her son-in-law Mark S. Landers of Hudson and a step-grandson Patrick A. Landers of Hudson. She was the beloved wife for 54 years of the late Carl Emerson Putnam who died in August of 2000. She was the sister of the late Sally Crowley.

Edna has been a resident of Wayland for over 51 years and previously resided in Roxbury and Cleveland, OH. She was a graduate of the John Bay High School in Cleveland, OH with the Class of 1935.

She had a long and distinguished professional career as an Administrator for the Lawyers Weekly in the Boston area and as the Administrator for many years with Tillinghast, Nelson and Warren formerly of Wellesley. Edna enjoyed traveling, loved all animals and was a caring and loving person who always gave of her time. Earlier this year, she received her 50 year membership with the Community United Methodist Church. She served for many years as the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and on the Administrative Board of the church. Edna also was involved with the annual church fair and the Flora Lewis Circle. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her family and will be greatly missed by all of the lives that she touched in her 95 years.
At the request of her family there will be no funeral home visitations.

A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at 4:00 pm at the Community United Methodist Church, 5 Damon St, (corner of Route 27 and Damon St), Cochituate Village, Wayland.

In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that memorial gifts in Edna’s memory may be sent to the Metrowest Humane Society, 30 Pond St, Ashland, MA 01721 or to the Community United Methodist Church.
